High
Fidelity?
Below is an ad for a
well-known Japanese firm's loudspeaker. Incredibly they have
made the cone from wood! And very interestingly, the other
content of the ad shows EXACTLY why this is totally
incorrect - they show a violin which is an instrument by the
very nature of being made from wood. A violin is an
INSTRUMENT - a loudspeaker is supposed to be just the
opposite - a neutral reproducer of sounds - giving NO sound
of its own! Is it any wonder that so many loudspeakers have
no relation to the term 'high fidelity' - which also means
'high faithfulness' - ?
